Lauren Black

Lauren Black joined VHA in June 2019 in the position of General Counsel and Privacy Officer. Lauren is responsible for overseeing VHA’s legal and compliance functions including risk management, strategy, contracting, corporate governance, emergency management and ethics as well as VHA’s privacy practices.

Prior to joining VHA, Lauren worked at a private law firm in Toronto and held the position of Litigation and Senior Legal Counsel at Direct Energy/Enercare for close to 10 years where she focused on successfully resolving contentious legal matters, improving organizational efficiencies, decreasing workplace incidents, and providing positive client and labour relations solutions.

Lauren earned a Bachelor of Science in Biology and an Honours Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from Queen’s University and holds a Bachelor of Laws degree from the University of Windsor  and a Masters of Law from Osgoode Hall Law School. She and her husband settled in Toronto fifteen years ago and they have 3 children.
