Bidding Farewell…

We’re sad to say that Susan Beattie, Regional Manager for Central East, retires this week after almost 19 years at VHA. She leaves the area in good hands under the leadership of Enrique Saenz.  “I’d like to thank all of the wonderful and caring PSWs, nurses, service providers, administrative staff and management team I’ve had the good fortune to work with and learn from,” Sue says. Best of luck to Sue in a happy, healthy and fruitful retirement—you’ll be missed!

Nightengale Award Nominee

Congratulations to Manouchehr Esmaeili, RN who was nominated for the 2016 Toronto Star Nightengale Awards for nursing. Way to go!

We won! Yipee!

VHA’s Communications Department took home the International Association of Business Communicators’ (Toronto Chapter) award for Best Not-for-Profit Communications Department at an awards event held in Toronto in May. “We were so pleasantly surprised by the win,” says Sr. Communications and PR Manager, Pamela Stoikopoulos. “I think we have a pretty great team so it’s nice to know other people outside of VHA think so too!”

And Heroes in the Home Award 2016 goes to…

Hats off to VHA’s very own PSW, Phoebe Boachie, who received Toronto Central CCAC’s 2016 Heroes in the Home Award. The award celebrates and recognizes the selfless caregivers of Toronto who are dedicated to improving the quality of life for people living with disabilities. “I was really excited at the event,” says Phoebe. “It makes me feel special to be recognized with all the other individuals who do such wonderful work.” Congratulations Phoebe!
