Dr. Kathryn Nichol

Dr. Kathryn Nichol has held the position of Vice President of Quality, Best Practice, Research and Education and Chief Nursing Executive at VHA Home HealthCare since 2016. In this role she works with an interprofessional team of health leaders to support personal support workers, nurses and rehab therapists in providing quality care while also helping to manage the safety of our care providers.

A Registered Nurse, Kathryn holds a BScN, MHSc in Occupational and Environmental Health and a PhD in Medical Science, all from the University of Toronto.

Kathryn is also Assistant Professor at the Dalla Lana School of Public Health at the University of Toronto where she teaches, supervises students and conducts research focused on the health, safety and wellness of health care workers. She is also Chair of the new Michener Research Institute for Health Care Education Advisory Committee. Prior to joining VHA, Kathryn held the roles of Senior Director of Research at both UHN and Sunnybrook Health Sciences.

In her spare time, Kathryn enjoys spending time with her family and two dogs, playing hockey, camping, canoeing and traveling.
